HUSBAND, DAD, FRIEND
Jógvan Zachariassen is from the Faroe Islands in Scandinavia. He is married to Unn and they have three children – Hjørdis, Jósef and Karita.
Jógvan is an educated classical bassoonist and is an internationally experienced musician. His musical education is from the Reykjavik College of Music in Iceland from 1985-1989 where he received the degree of Soloist Performance. He also attended several master classes with Werner Schulze in Vienna, Austria, and others.
Jógvan is also an educated theologian and has his theological education from Emmaus Bible College where he received his BS in 1994 with emphasis on biblical interpretation, and Dallas Theological Seminary where he received his T.hM in 1997 with an emphasis in homiletics and hermeneutics.
After his theological training, Jógvan served as a teacher at Tilsley Bible College in Motherwell, Scotland for three years (1997-2000). During these years he traveled extensively over the UK and Europe preaching, teaching and performing in various churches and theological conferences.
In 2000 the family moved back to the Faroe Islands where they started a new church called Lívdin Church Center. After 22 years as leading pastor Jógvan stepped down from leadership in 2022 but still serves as preacher and teacher in the church.
Jógvan earned his Doctoral degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2011 in the subject “The Theology of Music” with the emphasis of helping Christian musicians engage their culture through music and art.
Jógvan works full time for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association - City Director, Europe - arranging festivals for the Graham's when they minister in Europe.
Besides working for the BGEA, Jógvan serves in home church, plays music, writes books, articles and blogs on relevant subjects, and travels as a preacher, teacher and performer in many countries. Together with his wife, he takes groups to Israel and other biblical places regularly.
